Understanding Early Development & Well Being

The first five years are especially crucial for physical, intellectual, and social-emotional development. Parents, guardians, health professionals, and educators can work together as partners to help children grow up to reach their full potential. Children also learn in different ways depending on their developmental stage.

Each child has their own personality and responds to caregivers or experiences differently. Just like adults, children may have outgoing, shy, or even-tempered natures. At Crèche Aria, we have divided our children into four age groups to better monitor and assist understanding your child’s personality, so that we can help them succeed by offering care, activities, and discipline that best fit their needs.

Kären

Ages 0-1

Infancy is one of the most important stages in a child’s life. We strive to provide sensitive, responsive child care programs that meet the needs of individual infants.

Infants need caring adults they can depend on. We build trust by spending time one-on-one with babies and responding quickly to their needs. A trusting relationship has a special name, a secure attachment. When children have a secure attachment, they feel safer and spend more time exploring their world.

Sprossen

Ages 1-2

Learning to become independent is one of the most important milestones of the toddler years. Skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving “bye-bye” are important developmental milestones. Children reach milestones in how they play, learn, speak, behave, and move (like crawling, walking, or jumping).Their desire to explore new objects and people also is increasing.

We support toddlers’ social and emotional development by providing opportunities for children to do things independently, practice problem solving and begin learning how to get along with others.

Bleien

Ages 2-3

Your child’s understanding of language is more progressed than their understanding of the world around them, so it’s important to introduce new concepts in a way that is easy for them to manage as they acquire developmental milestones such as taking turns, playing make believe, and kicking a ball.

This stage can be an exciting time for parents and toddlers. Toddlers will experience huge thinking, learning, social, and emotional changes that will help them to explore their new world, and make sense of it. During this stage, toddlers should be able to follow two or three-step directions, sort objects by shape and color, and express a wide range of emotions.

Blummen

Ages 3-4

As children grow into early childhood, their world will begin to open up. They will become more independent and begin to focus more on adults and children outside of the family. They may be able to talk about their feelings, respond appropriately to others’ emotional signals, and regulate their emotions.

Their interactions with family and those around them will help to shape their personality and their own ways of thinking and moving. During this stage, children should be able to ride a tricycle, use safety scissors, help to dress and undress themselves, play with other children, recall part of a story, and sing a song.
